Love of self is most important.   26th May 2011,   Love of self is most important….   Jesus taught us to love our neighbour as our self.   The Greatest Commandment   34Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (NIV)   As a child I was taught to put God first, others second and myself last, to do this requires enough love for ourselves, of ourselves so that we can return love to God and extend it to others.   When we are twisted with self-hate we have nothing to return to God but that hate and most assuredly no one would want to receive such a love from us.   Lord teach us to love ourselves that we might love God and humans rightly.
